The short version: Permis 101 is a tool for preparing for the SAAQ knowledge test — not the test itself, and not an SAAQ product. You buy a personal licence to use it, once, through the App Store.
By installing or using the Permis 101 application (the “app”) or the permis101.com website, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app. These terms take nothing away from the rights the law grants you as a matter of public order, including those under the Consumer Protection Act (Québec) where it applies.
Permis 101 is an independent study app that prepares you for the SAAQ’s Class 5 knowledge test (Québec driver’s licence). Every question is written by us, in original wording, from the official study guides published by the SAAQ.
The app is not the official test, does not contain the official test questions (the SAAQ does not publish them), and issues no licence, certificate or official result. Doing well in the app does not guarantee that you will pass the real test: the readiness score measures how much of our question bank you have mastered in the app, and nothing else — it is not a prediction of your official result.
Permis 101 is not affiliated with the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) or with the Government of Québec, and is neither sponsored nor endorsed by them. References to the SAAQ in the app and on this site serve only to describe the test the app prepares you for. “SAAQ” is a trademark of its owner.
We check every question against the official guides and correct reported errors quickly. The Highway Safety Code, the regulations and testing practices can nevertheless change at any time. If the content of the app and the official rules in force ever differ, the SAAQ’s official rules and the applicable law always prevail. The app is a study tool; it is not legal advice, and it is not an official source of Québec road law.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the app and its content on the Apple devices associated with your Apple Account, for your own study. This licence does not allow you:
All of the app’s content — questions, explanations, illustrations, interface — is protected by copyright and remains our property.
Some of the content is free. Full access is obtained through a single purchase (no subscription, no repeat purchase) made in the App Store. The transaction is concluded with Apple, acting as the retailer (merchant of record): the price shown in the App Store at the time of purchase governs, and applicable taxes are handled by Apple.
Refunds are processed exclusively by Apple, under its own terms, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We have neither access to your payment details nor the technical means to issue a refund ourselves. Restoring the purchase on a new device goes through “Restore my purchases” in the app’s settings, signed in with the same Apple Account.
“For life” means: no recurring payment, ever — full access stays unlocked for as long as the app is offered and supported on the App Store, and at minimum in line with the commitments below.
Permis 101 is run by one person, and no service can be guaranteed forever. If we ever decided to stop operating it, we commit to:
The app works without an account, and your study progress stays on your devices and, when iCloud is available, in your own iCloud: syncing is automatic — the app has no switch for it, it follows your iPhone’s iCloud settings. Everything is explained in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law — and subject to the warranties the law does not allow us to exclude, in particular those of the Consumer Protection Act (Québec) — the app is provided “as is”, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the app. We are not responsible for the consequences of failing the SAAQ test (retake fees, delays, professional consequences), since passing depends on factors beyond our control.
This limitation does not apply where the law forbids it: it neither excludes nor limits our liability for bodily or moral injury, or for liability arising from intentional or gross fault. If part of this section is held invalid, the rest continues to apply.
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may suspend access to the full question-bank download in case of a clear breach of section 5 (automated extraction of the content, for example), without reducing your legal rights as a consumer.
These terms are governed by the law of Québec and, where applicable, by the federal laws of Canada. If you reside in Québec, you have the full benefit of the Consumer Protection Act and the Civil Code of Québec, and you may bring proceedings before the courts of your own domicile — those rights cannot be taken away from you by contract. If you use the app from outside Québec, the mandatory consumer protection rules of your place of residence apply despite this choice.
These terms are written in French. Where a translation is offered, it is provided for convenience: in case of any discrepancy, the French version prevails.

If these terms change, the new version will be published here with its update date. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the version in force.
